Maple Creek School

The addition and renovation to the Maple Creek Middle & Secondary School was undertaken in 2010. Significant structural modifications were made to the existing school to accommodate a new stage, music/band room, student lounge, an auxiliary training room and much needed storage for the gymnasium. The renovations included a new elevator installed within the footprint of the existing building and accessible washrooms were added.

The structural modifications consisted of removing columns in the existing pre-engineered rigid frames in the gymnasium to accommodate the new stage. The mid-span frame connection was reinforced to account for the redistribution of internal forces. Other structural upgrades included reinforcing glulam beams that were showing signs of deterioration.
